COVID-19 Municipal Building Temporary in-person access policy

Due to the extraordinary conditions surrounding the COVID-19 virus in this National State of Emergency and the advice of Health officials, the Township is taking prudent and proactive steps to protect the general public, as well as our employees, by limiting public personal contact as much as possible. Be assured the Township will continue to provide all services as normal with little or no interruptions as long as our staff remains healthy to do so, which is part of the reason for these steps to ensure that we can continue to keep your Township services functioning, so that we can continue to serve our residents, especially for emergency situations. The following policies are being implemented for the next two weeks from Monday, March 16th – Friday, March 27, at which time these temporary policies will be reevaluated.

  • Residents are strongly encouraged to mail in checks for real estate taxes and sewer payments, to utilize the drop off box outside the Township office or to use their bank’s bill-pay system. We will mail you a receipt.
  • Municipal buildings will operate during normal business hours until further notice, but with limited access.  Residents are asked to limit walk-in visits to municipal offices to those that require an in-person meeting. If you knock at the door or call the Township Office, we will come let you in and tend to your needs.
  • We are always available to answer questions via phone (724-745-3415) or email. An email directory for our staff can be found on our website or via our E-Gov Citizen Request System on the website.
  • The Zoning Hearing Board will meet on Monday, March 16th at 6:00 PM and the Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday, March 24th at 5:00 PM, as scheduled. We are asking the public to limit attendance to those with business before the Boards and maintain the recommended “social distancing” for those who attend. We are encouraging residents to submit any comments in writing as an alternative.
  • The Township meeting room is not available for use by outside groups during this period.
  • The Chartiers Township Community Center is closed to all rentals, groups, activities and classes during this period.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep the public informed though our website and Facebook page. All emergency notifications will be delivered through the SwiftReach notification system.

In an effort to provide more reliable and effective communications with citizens, Chartiers Township has implemented Swiftreach Networks, Inc. as our emergency notification provider.












Swift911™ is a system designed to make phone calls to specific people or areas in the event of an emergency or for sharing important information. Chartiers Township Emergency Management and other departments will use this system to notify citizens by phone of information regarding you or your property. The system can make thousands of calls in a minute to convey vital information. These messages may include information on floods, fires, water emergencies, road closures, missing persons, evacuation orders, and weather emergencies.

The Swiftreach Network Data has been provided by a third party data provider and only includes listed phone numbers in Chartiers Township. It is important for residents and business owners to provide contact information such as unlisted, unpublished or cell phone numbers, which are often residents primary point of contact. Accurate numbers in the database help to ensure emergency information will be passed on to everyone in a timely manner.

If you would like to provide an alternate number other than your home number you may also do so. The alternate phone number would be called if your primary phone number is not answered by a person or answering machine.

All calls you receive will have the caller ID of “Chartiers Township.” Your information will not be provided to any outside agencies or companies.
