The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has scheduled a Public Plans Display for the upcoming project for improvements at the SR 1009  (Pike Street) SR 4049 (Country Club Road) intersection in the Township.  This display will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chartiers Township Municipal Building located at 2 Buccaneer Drive, Houston Pennsylvania.  The meeting will be held in an open house format which will allow you to attend at a time that is convenient for you.  .  The project involves the widening of S.R. 1009 (Pike Street) and S.R. 4049 (Country Club Road) to both provide turning lanes and improve the turning radius for trucks utilizing the intersection.  The project will also replace both the existing traffic signal and the at grade railroad crossing that exists within the intersection.       The project is tentatively scheduled for bid opening in June of this year.  Although some initial work involving drainage, utility relocation, building demolition and replacement of the railroad crossing will occur this year, the majority of construction is anticipated to occur next year with all work anticipated to be completed by mid-July 2015.

The Chartiers Township Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall 2450 West Pike Street Houston, PA 15342.  The purpose of this meeting is to present information and a status update on the Allison Hollow Road Improvement Project, which is ready to commence construction.  We are inviting residents and property owners of the area to the meeting to hear a project overview and provide answers to specific question residents may have. The Project Engineer and Contractor will be present to answer project related questions.

The Chartiers Township Parks and Recreation Board is hosting Light Up Night this Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall at 6:30 P.M.  There will be cookies and hot chocolate as we flip the switch and have a tree lighting ceremony to kick-off the holiday season.  The Chartiers-Houston Jazz Band will be performing from 6:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.. The evening will be capped with a very special visit from Santa Claus as he arrives on the firetruck at  7:00 P.M.!

Residents may drop off their unused or expired prescription drugs to properly be disposed of. This event reduces the risk of prescription drug diversion and abuse, as well as traces of prescription drugs ending up in the public sewer system from being flushed down the toilet or rinsed down the sink.

The Chartiers Township Recreation Board is planning a bus trip to see the Nutcracker on Sunday, December 15, the noon performance. The cost is $43.75 per person, which includes the bus transportation, show ticket and a 10:00 a.m. backstage tour! The bus is limited to 48 people, so if you are interested, please stop by the Township building sign up by November 10th.

Free registration begins at 9:30.

The Dog Walk starts at 10:00.  A Fun Doggie Agility Course will be run by Angel Ridge starting at 10:30.  Judging for the Best Trick contest will begin at 11:00.

Prizes will be awarded in different categories.
